EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNALS (SCOTLAND) Case No: 4102385/2020 5 Held in Glasgow on 27, 28 and 29 September 2022 Employment Judge Campbell Members Ms Hutchison and Mr McPherson 10 Mr Muhammad Wasi Claimant In Person Glasgow City Council Respondent Represented by: 15 Ms K Graydon - Solicitor
JUDGMENT OF THE EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNAL The unanimous judgment of the tribunal is that the claimant's dismissal was not an 20 act of direct discrimination by reason of race, and his claim is therefore dismissed.
REASONS General
1. This claim arises out of the claimant's employment by the respondent which began on 17 September 2018 and ended on 12 December 2019 with his 25 dismissal. The claimant was employed as a Technical Food Safety Officer within the Neighbourhoods and Sustainability department of the respondent, which is the local authority for the city of Glasgow.
2. The claimant alleges that his dismissal was unfair and an act of direct discrimination by reason of his race. The respondent contends that the 30 dismissal was non-discriminatory and justified on grounds of the claimant's conduct, specifically negligence in the performance of his role. 4102385/2020 Page 2
