REASONS

1. On 19 April 2024 the claimant did not attend the preliminary hearing in this case. When contacted by my clerk that morning on the telephone the claimant said that he had been unaware of the hearing date and in the circumstances I was prepared to accept the possibility that the notice of hearing had been lost in the post.
